Custom Hat Manufacturer for EU Wholesale Buyers
Manufacturing for EU retail, fashion, sports and promotional buyers — built around REACH, CSRD, GPSR, German LkSG and French AGEC compliance requirements.
REACH SVHC compliance for textile imports
EU REACH regulates 200+ Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) in textiles. For custom headwear, the key restricted substances are azo dyes, formaldehyde, certain phthalates in PVC patches, nickel in metal closures, and specific azo amines in pigment dyes. All CrownsForge fabric is OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified, which covers REACH SVHC list compliance.
Specific concern: PVC patches must be DEHP/DBP-free for EU market. Synthetic leather patches must use water-based PU coatings. We have moved entirely to REACH-compliant material vendors and provide REACH declaration of conformity on request.
CSRD and EU corporate sustainability reporting
Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) compels large EU buyers to disclose supplier sustainability data starting fiscal year 2025. For custom hat suppliers, this means structured data on: facility energy consumption, water usage, waste streams, worker headcount and labor conditions, certified materials usage, and Scope 3 emissions from production.
We publish an annual CSRD-compatible sustainability data pack covering: BSCI/Sedex audit summary, OEKO-TEX/GRS/GOTS certifications, recycled-content tonnage, and factory carbon footprint estimate. Buyers can request the dataset directly to feed into their CSRD reporting.
German LkSG Supply Chain Due Diligence Act
Germany's LkSG (Lieferkettensorgfaltspflichtengesetz, Supply Chain Due Diligence Act) applies to German companies with 1,000+ employees and tier-1 suppliers. For German retail buyers (Aldi, Lidl, Otto, Zalando), supplier compliance documentation includes: BSCI or Sedex SMETA 4-Pillar audit, written grievance mechanism, training records, and corrective action plans for any identified risks.
We provide LkSG-compatible documentation packs for German buyers. Documentation in German is available on request (DeepL-translated, factory-team-verified) at no additional cost.
French AGEC textile traceability
French Loi AGEC (Anti-waste Circular Economy Law) imposes textile traceability and environmental labelling requirements that became progressively binding from 2023-2025. Textile products sold in France must display: fiber composition (already standard), country of manufacture for spinning, weaving and dyeing operations (this is new), recycled-content percentage, and a digital traceability link.
We provide AGEC-compatible traceability data — spinning country, weaving country, dyeing country and finishing country — for each fabric SKU in production. For French buyers we can also print the AGEC digital-twin QR code on hangtags.
GPSR General Product Safety Regulation
EU GPSR (which replaced the General Product Safety Directive in December 2024) requires importers to maintain detailed product safety files for all consumer products sold in the EU. For custom hats: product description, manufacturer identification (name and address — that is us), risk assessment, test reports for any safety-relevant claims, and traceability code.
We provide GPSR-compatible product files for every order shipping to the EU. The file includes: CrownsForge manufacturer identification, factory address, batch number, test reports (OEKO-TEX, optional CPSIA equivalent, optional UPF), and risk assessment summary. Importers retain the file for 10 years after last unit sold.
Shipping to Rotterdam, Hamburg and Antwerp
Standard ocean transit Yiwu/Ningbo: 30-38 days to Rotterdam (Europe's largest port and the most common EU entry), 32-40 days to Hamburg, 30-38 days to Antwerp. FCL transit is 2-4 days faster. Air freight to Frankfurt, Amsterdam Schiphol or Paris CDG is 5-7 days with significantly higher per-piece cost.
EU import VAT varies by country (19-25%). For VAT-registered buyers, VAT is recoverable. For non-VAT-registered buyers (smaller startups), DDP arrangements where we handle import VAT may be more efficient. Tariffs on chapter 6505 headwear range from 2.7% to 12% depending on fiber composition and construction.
